In January 2005, Election Data Services was contracted by the United States Election Assistance Commission (EAC) to tabulate, report, and analyze responses from state election directors to three surveys: the 2004 Election Day, Military and Overseas Absentee Ballot (UOCAVA), and Voter Registration (NVRA) Surveys. The Election Day Survey covered practices and procedures by some 8,000 state and local election jurisdictions in the U.S.
The Election Day Survey report, which included recommendations on future data collection, was published on the EAC’s website. On September 27, 2005, Kimball Brace, leader of the project team that provided survey analysis support to the EAC, made a presentation to the EAC on the findings of the 2004 Election Day Survey.
